Episode 10: Wolfgang Steffens talks about LeSS (Large Scale Scrum) and Living Transformation

The Living Transformation is an approach for the successful transformation of entire organizations. It focuses on the question of HOW. It does not specify content, i.e. it does not suggest WHAT is done. In Living Transformation, WHAT is done is a question of the content of the Transformation Epics (TrEpics). One of the most common TrEpics in recent years in different organizations of different industries is the work on „formal hierarchies“, on the so-called structural organizations. Many organizations would like to make these more agile with the help of the agile transformation approach of Living Transformation. So how would something like this work?

LeSS can provide a possible orientation for working on a Transformation Epic “Agile Structural Organization”. LeSS (Large Scale Scrum) is an agile framework for organizing multiple Scrum teams. Here, LeSS is designed for two to eight teams, whereas LeSS Huge provides an approach for more than eight teams. The ultimate goal of a LeSS implementation is to reduce complexity and maximize the agility of an organization so that the most valuable work can always get done.

Wolfgang is a passionate, energetic, inspiring and authentic coach with more than 10 years of experience in large-scale Lean and Agile product development. He is a certified LeSS trainer, certified LeSS coach, systems thinker and experienced in facilitating large workshops. His first encounter with Scrum and Agile was in 2005, and the learning journey only started there. He coached his first LeSS implementation in 2007 and in 2010, he expanded his knowledge and coached an organization with over 1000 employees in their SAFe implementation.
